Online Collaborations and In-Home Consultations

First of all, we want to thank you all for your overwhelming support in this venture.  We couldn't do this without you (literally, we'd have no spaces to design!). We've been asked more than a few times about the services we offer so we thought we'd summarize in a blog post.  

In addition to standard full service interior design, we also offer some not-so-standard services. These are in-home consultations and online collaborations. For an inside look at how it works, we've put together a list of frequently asked questions.   

 

Q: Who is right for a consultation/collaboration?

A:  In-home and online consults are great for clients who would like insight and advice from interior designers, but feel comfortable executing the design on their own.  Successful design is all about collaboration; sometimes you just need to hear ideas to get your own design juices flowing.

 

Q: How much does a consultation cost?

A: In-home and online consultations are a flat rate of $250. For in-home consultations, this affords you two hours.  For online collaborations, this is dependent on scope. 

 

Q: Where will you go for in-home consultations?

A: All in-home consultations are in Chicago or the Chicago area.  

 

Q: What happens during the in-home consultation?

A: Sara conducts all in-home consultations.  She start with a tour of your space and then discuss the specific design challenges and goals you'd like to focus on.  Suggestions include ideas for arranging existing furniture, finding additional pieces for your space, choosing paint colors and fabric patterns, displaying art, and selecting window treatments.  You let us know what you hope to get out of our time together!

 

Q: What is included in the online collaborations?

A: Like our in-home consultations, online collaborations are driven by you. You decide what you need help with, send us photos of the room(s) and any inspiration images you come across. We will set up a Skype session to discuss your project and will follow up by email with ideas for key furniture pieces, paint colors, etc. If you'd like further design services, we can develop mood boards and tear sheets for an additional cost.

 

Q: Will you come back for repeat in-home visits or multiple online collaborations?

A:  Yes!  We love watching a space transform and getting to see a project through to completion.

 

Q: How should I prepare?

A: Please provide a few pictures of the room(s), inspiration images, and define your goals for the space.

Q: What does a finished room design look like?

A:  Below is an example of a finished mood board for clients' "Nantucket without the Whales" (Gild & Wit working title) dining room.  For this room we chose all furniture, paint colors, window treatments as well as designed custom built-ins and millwork.  Along with the mood board the finished design includes room drawings, layouts, and tear sheets for all furniture.  This online collaboration was so much fun and we are so thrilled that the clients' love the results!
